Avoir un enfant avec un handicap invisible, c’est vivre dans une réalité que beaucoup ne voient pas et que certains ont du mal à comprendre. Quand, en plus, les médecins parlent de mystère médical et qu’aucun diagnostic précis ne vient poser de mots sur ce que l’on observe chaque jour, la situation devient encore plus complexe.

Having a child with an invisible disability means living in a reality that many people do not see and that some struggle to understand. When, on top of that, doctors talk about a medical mystery and no clear diagnosis can put words to what we observe every day, the situation becomes even more complex.

People sometimes tell us that when you have a child with specific needs, you should put your life on hold. As if everything had to stop, as if our family were supposed to wait for a simpler, lighter, easier time. But I refuse that idea.

On nous dit parfois qu’avec un enfant aux besoins spécifiques, il faudrait mettre sa vie en pause. Comme si tout devait s’arrêter, comme si notre famille devait vivre en attente d’un moment plus simple, plus léger, plus facile. Mais je refuse cette idée.
